Frequently Asked Questions

How long can I expect to come to therapy?

The length of therapy really depends on your goals, needs, and what’s happening in your life. Some clients come in for short-term, solution-focused therapy that targets a specific issue—such as anxiety around work, difficulty setting boundaries, or navigating a transition. These clients typically attend 3–14 sessions, depending on the situation and progress.

For clients working through complex or intergenerational trauma, therapy often takes longer. In these cases, we address deep-rooted emotional patterns, attachment wounds, and long-standing coping strategies. This type of work moves at a steady, compassionate pace because real healing takes time.

From the start, we’ll collaborate on a treatment plan that fits your needs and timeline. I’ll check in with you regularly to make sure therapy continues to feel meaningful and effective.

Do you accept insurance?

Yes, I accept several major insurance providers including Optum, United Healthcare, Aetna, and Anthem Blue Cross. Copays for these plans typically range between $20–$50 per session, depending on your individual benefits.

If your PPO insurance plan is not listed, you may still be eligible for partial reimbursement as an out-of-network client. Many PPO plans reimburse 20%–50% of the session fee once you meet your deductible. I’ll provide a superbill (itemized receipt) and assist you with the paperwork to make the process easier.

Choosing a private therapist in Oakland who is both trauma-informed and insurance-friendly means you receive personalized, consistent care without the impersonal feel of large therapy platforms.

What is your self-pay rate?

My self-pay rate is $185 per session. This rate reflects the depth of training, expertise, and care that I bring to each session, as well as the individualized attention that private therapy provides.

I also offer a sliding scale when possible. Please don’t hesitate to ask about this during your consultation. My goal is to make therapy financially accessible while maintaining high-quality, ethical care.

Many clients choose self-pay because it allows for greater privacy and flexibility—no diagnosis required for insurance, and we can focus on your goals rather than medical necessity requirements.

Do you offer online or in-person sessions?

Yes, I offer both online and in-person therapy.

  • In-person sessions: Held in my Oakland office, located on College Avenue in the Rockridge neighborhood—a calm, tree-lined area easily accessible by BART and with nearby parking.

  • Online sessions: Available for anyone located in California, offering the same level of care and connection from the comfort of your home.

Many clients enjoy the flexibility of online therapy, especially professionals balancing work, family, and self-care. Whether you’re in Oakland, Berkeley, San Francisco, or anywhere in California, you can access therapy that feels personal and grounded.

What kinds of issues do you specialize in?

I specialize in helping women and couples heal from experiences that leave them feeling anxious, disconnected, or unsure of themselves. My areas of focus include:

  • Trauma and complex trauma (C-PTSD)

  • Anxiety and stress management

  • Depression (chronic and functional)

  • Perfectionism and self-criticism

  • ADHD in women

  • Relationship and attachment challenges

  • Life transitions and boundary setting

  • Parenting as working mother

My approach blends evidence-based therapies—Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Attachment-Based Therapy—with a compassionate, relational style.

Together, we’ll explore what’s been holding you back and build practical tools to help you feel more grounded, confident, and connected.

Why choose private therapy over online platforms?

Many people come to me after trying large therapy platforms that left them feeling unseen or rushed. Working with a local Oakland therapist means you’ll have a consistent, experienced clinician who knows the Bay Area culture and genuinely invests in your growth.

Unlike high-turnover platforms, I provide personalized, trauma-informed therapy with continuity of care and depth—so you can do more than just cope; you can truly heal.
